A young man has been seriously injured after his motorbike collided with a car, causing disruption to public holiday traffic on the Gold Coast.

Critical care paramedics and the high acuity response unit raced to the scene of the motorbike and car collision on William Blvd in Pimpama about 10.20am.

According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman, the man, aged in his 20s, suffered significant arm and leg injuries.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, with a critical care doctor by his side.

The incident has contributed to building delays on the Gold Coast due to the public holiday.

Commuters were at 11.40am experiencing delays of up to 15 minutes along the Pacific Mwy through Pimpama, while a crash further along the motorway in Upper Coomera also brought traffic to a stand still.
