UPDATE, 3.54pm: AS Zoey Baillie remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, her family has thanked the public for its support, but requested privacy.
Josh Baillie, Zoey's father, said in a statement the three-year-old is still in the early days of treatment and the family's sole focus was on looking after their daughter.
"While we are grateful for the support from the public, the past week has been extremely distressing for our family," he said.
"At this time we have no further comment to make and we'd ask the media to respect our privacy."
UPDATE, 10.42am: ZOEY Baillie remains in critical but stable condition at Townsville Hospital this morning.
A hospital spokesperson said the three-year-old's condition had not changed overnight.
Zoey's mother, Shanah Grandison, found the girl hanging by her neck from a swing set after a playground accident at Koumala on Thursday afternoon.
INITIAL: A LITTLE girl remains in a critical but stable condition in Townsville Hospital after she was found hanging by her neck from a swing set after a playground accident in Koumala.
The child's mother, Shanah Grandison, found her at the family's property about 60km south of Mackay.
Zoey Baillie, 3, was believed to be playing on a swing set as her mother tended to animals on the property, an RACQ-CQ Rescue spokeswoman said.
She said when Shanah returned to check on the child, she found her hanging with the swing rope around her neck and not breathing.
The rescue crew flew the girl to hospital yesterday after the horrific accident.
The spokeswoman said CPR had been performed on the child and a pulse returned before an ambulance crew arrived on the scene.
It's understood the parents performed CPR.
Zoey's aunt Jacinta Grandison told The Courier-Mail her sister had done everything she could to save her niece's life.
"Shanah was amazing and it's because of her that little Zoey has a fighting chance," she said.
"She spent over an hour resuscitating Zoey until the medics got there."
The rescue crew landed at the Koumala sports ground at 6.55pm to meet the ambulance and rush the child, who was accompanied by her mum, to Mackay Base Hospital.
She was later transferred to the Townsville Hospital about midnight in a critical condition.
The most recent statistics from the ABS suggest children are most likely to be injured either at home, or at someone else's house.
