UPDATE: Man charged with endangering children in Gympie

UPDATE:

POLICE have released the charges a 30-year-old man will face after he was caught travelling with two missing Emerald children in the Gympie region.

The Currajong man spent the night in the Gympie watch house where he was charged with contravention of domestic violence order, one count each of endangering children, possession of knife in a public place, dangerous operation of a vehicle and two counts of fail to stop motor vehicle.

He has also been charged with three counts each of unlicensed driving, drive unregistered vehicle, drive uninsured vehicle and drive with false registration plates.

The children went missing on Thursday evening , but were located unharmed in the Gympie region yesterday.

He is expected to appear in the Gympie Magistrates Court on September 12.

No one was physically injured in the incident. 

EARLIER: A man who was found in the Gympie region with two children who were missing from Emerald, has been charged and spent the night in the Gympie watch house last night.  

Police issued an amber alert for the girl, 7 and the boy, 6, after they went missing on Thursday evening from Emerald.

They were known to be travelling with a 30-year-old man, who was known to them,  in a  blue 2007 Holden Barina and were possibly travelling to Townsville last seen travelling east on the Capricorn Highway at Emerald.  

They were located in the Gympie region at 1.45pm yesterday. The children were found unharmed.   

The man was released this morning.
