AFTER 10 years, Robyn and Bill Shulkins have handed over the keys to their beloved Cape Hillsborough Nature Resort.

As much as they're sorry to leave, Mrs Shulkins said it was time to move on.

"We had a wonderful time and met wonderful people."

Mrs Shulkins said she was proud of the improvements they made but joked that they bought it in a "moment of madness".

"It needed a lot of attention when we bought it."

"We really just wanted a change - we lived in South Sydney - something the whole family could enjoy."

The couple, who are now retired, still plans to spend a lot of time in caravan parks.

"We'd like to go around Australia in our caravan," Mrs Shulkins said.

"It will take a while to get used to, not having to get out of bed a 6am - we were on call 24 hours a day for 10 years."

Mrs Shulkins said they were happy to hand the reins over to Renae and Ben Atherton.

"They're in a similar situation to us when we started - they have a young family and plan to live (on the grounds) permanently," she said.

Mrs Atherton said it had been a busy week for the couple and their three young children.

"We've been running as fast as we can to catch up," she said.

"(We bought the park) for lifestyle and family reasons - we wanted to spend more time as a family."

"It's lovely here - why wouldn't you move."

Mrs Atherton said her children, who are all under six, loved their new home.

"There's a kangaroo that comes into the park, nicknamed Bridget.

"They adore going down to see Bridget."

Mrs Atherton said they had a five-year plan and were looking forward to carrying it out and getting feedback from their clientele.
