Residents of a sleepy seaside suburb were shocked to discover a tiger shark washed up dead on their main beach yesterday.

On October 2, a tiger shark washed up dead on Lambert’s Beach in Slade Point.

Council confirmed that they were alerted to the presence of the 1.2m shark on the beach and quickly sent workers to the scene.

It is unclear why the shark died as no physical signs of trauma or injury were visible.

Council workers were at Lambert’s beach until 6pm, digging a hole in the sand and burying the shark.
