UPDATE:

Photos have emerged on social media of the popstar enjoying some down time on Hamilton Island with her crew.

Taylor Swift is tipped to perform for her fans on the island tomorrow.

EARLIER:

Security is tight on Hamilton Island today, with superstar Taylor Swift reportedly arriving yesterday afternoon.

Arriving via ferry at 7am this morning, Whitsunday Times and Whitsunday Coast Guardian journalist Rory Sheavils was stopped on the docks by general manager corporate services Gavin Herholdt and a PR representative who ordered him to return to the mainland.

"It's a private island and we reserve the right to grant access to ensure the privacy of our guests," Mr Herholdt said.

Ms Sheavils was not the only one to be ejected from the island.

Sunrise Queensland correspondent Michelle Tapper was told to leave the island this morning.

She was forced to broadcast live from a boat off the island, and even then was confronted by security officers who asked the television crew to leave.

Ms Tapper was defiant.

"While it is legal for them to kick us off the island while she is there, it's actually legal for us to lurk just off the coast here."

Back on the ferry, Brendan Ryan, who had been working on neighbouring Dent Island, said he had been staying on Hamilton since Monday.

"Nah, I only heard about it on the news," he said when asked if he had seen the elusive celebrity.

He did have some insight into the pop-singer's movements however.

"I was talking to one of the head guys organising (her party)," he said.

"It's supposed to be on Friday."

Residents of the island were even more tight-lipped, currently under a "privacy agreement".

"I haven't seen her, but I couldn't tell you if I had," one said.

Taylor appears to be keeping a low profile, with a number of guests reporting they hadn't seen her or her entourage during their stay - although the UK press has published images of Tay Tay and her entourage on Whitehaven Beach and relaxing on a balcony at qualia.

The star is rumoured to be staying in the same suite at qualia that Oprah Winfrey used.  Oprah was rumoured to have been invited to the 26th birthday bash this week.

Meanwhile, Hamilton Island employees on the return ferry refused to speak due to the media blackout.
