It’s the photo that shows Mackay was robbed of its place in the XXXX League Championship grand final.
There were just minutes left in the semi-final with the Mackay side leading against the Toowoomba 24-22 and had the chance to score a sealing try.
“We were on the sidelines packing our bags to go to Brisbane,” Mackay Coach Steve Jackson said.
Then Toowoomba’s Chris Woodbridge snagged the ball and ran the entire length of the BB Print Stadium stealing the game for a 28-24 win.
But a photo shows Woodbridge was off-side when he intercepted the ball.
A replay of the match revealed Woodbridge came off the line before Mackay dummy half Clint Broomham had touched the ball.
“It definitely was a missed call,” Jackson said.
“I don’t look at it as being robbed.
“It had an immediate impact on the win and the loss.
“The wrong decision was immediate – we lost that game on that decision.
“That’s a bitter pill to swallow.”
Jackson praised Toowoomba’s efforts on Saturday night.
“At the end of the day the side we played had it all over us in the first half,” Jackson said.
“We made a lot of errors.”
However, he said, his team made up their losses in the second half.
“Anyone could have won that game,” Jackson said.
