Aussie international cricket star Beth Mooney has heaped praise on Mackay’s Great Barrier Reef Arena as the side prepares for its pair of T20 matches against New Zealand next month.

GBR Arena as been a favourite ground for Mooney individually, with her most significant performance being a match-winning 125 not out against India in 2021.

“Great Barrier Reef Arena has created some fantastic memories for me and the team, particularly from the one day international series victory against India just a few years back,” Mooney said.

“It’s a great venue, the crowds are brilliant and the atmosphere really helps to lift our performance.”

The pair of games against the Kiwis will take place on Thursday, September 19 and Sunday, September 22, with Mooney saying they will serve as “the perfect lead-in” to her side’s upcoming T20 World Cup campaign where they’ll look to defend their title as reigning T20 World Champions.

“I can’t wait to kick off the new season with these two games against New Zealand, they will be hard fought and we are looking forward to bringing our best game to Mackay in September,” she said.

“I have no doubt that everyone will be switched on and raring to play.”
