Softball MACKAY'S Open Mens Softball team will head to Brisbane next weekend looking to repeat their success at the State Championships.
The team will head into the 2017 event at Redlands as one of the favourites after backing up their 2015 championship with a third place finish last year.
This year's line up features a strong mix of youth and experience with six former Queensland representatives set to pull on Mackay colours at the competition.
Joining the former rep stars will be 17 year old Heinrich Ackermann who will travel fresh off the back of his selection in the Queensland U19 team for next year's Australian championships.
Mackay Softball's Jodie Baxter said every player will have a role to play as the team sets its sights on another successful year.
"In the last five years we have been in the top three teams,” Baxter said.
"We won it two years ago and last year we finished third.”
"We are obviously looking at taking it out again this year so we will be heading down to give it our best shot.”
The competition will run October 13-15.
