PROSERPINE JUNIOR CRICKET: Last weekend brought the last round of regular games in the Mackay competition.
Both age groups went into the weekend starting down must-win games.
The Under-14s had an easier path because all they had to do was win their game to make the grand final next week.
But the Under-12s had to win their match and hope the other games finished with desired results to get them into second place.
Unfortunately the dice did not roll favourably.
They put in a massive effort and came away with a good win against the top-of-the-table team, but the team they needed to lose instead won their game so Proserpine just missed out on playing in the grand final.
As they say though, that is cricket.

The boys have had an amazing season and shown great team spirit, which makes the club extremely proud.
Our Under-14s are off to the grand final and will play off against Brothers to hopefully bring home the silverware this Saturday.
On Sunday, nine of our players headed to Mackay for the annual Hans Mark Shield between Mackay and Rockhampton, which is played each year.
We had three players in the Under-14s, they were Grady Turner, Jackson Riley and Darcy Milne.
Grady scored 39 not out and took 1 for 1 off 5 overs with the ball, while Jackson bowled 1 for 6 off 5 overs.
In the Under-13s Ben Valmadre was our representative top scoring 18 runs and taking 1 for 14 off 3 overs.
Unfortunately they went down.
In the Under-12s we had three players across the two teams.
Both teams had good wins with Corey Stroud retiring not out on 19 and taking 2 for 12 off 4 overs.
Ky Porter bowled a very tidy 4 overs with 0 for 11.
In the other team unfortunately Jack Valmadre missed out and didn't score a lot of runs but he was a good support player to his batting partner.
The Under-11s competition was where all the excitement was, as the children were playing their first game of representative cricket.
Each team had one player from the Proserpine club.
Kai McGloughlin was in the blue team and Luke Dywer was in the maroon.
Luke was lucky enough to be named captain of his team, which was an amazing learning experience.
Both the teams came away with big losses, however the experience for them was second to none and they now have the bug to improve their skills for next season.
PROSERPINE BOWLS: The 2020 Men's 2 Bowl Triples was finally completed on Saturday afternoon.
The team of Shane Kinnear, Luke Kinnear and dad, Graham Kinnear took out the title with a victory over Peter Lawton, Barry Zillmann and Ross Reville in the final.
They defeated the renowned team of Nathan Dodds, Scott Hamilton and Wayne Handley on Friday night in a very close match, 28 to 27.
They then defeated the team of Angus Craig, (subbing for Luchie Gardel), Jonathan Bye and Gavin Milne 25 to 19 in the semi-final before winning the final in the afternoon 31 to 22. Well done guys.
In other competition games played on Saturday, Jim Quod defeated Brett Saroglia 26 to 21 in the Championship Singles, Scott Hamilton defeated Arthur Griffith 26 nil in another Championship Singles match.

In the B-Grade Singles Gavin Noonan defeated Steve Summers 27 to 8 and Brett Saroglia defeated Toby Craig 26 to 13.

A reminder if you have nominated for a singles event you are required to mark one game.
Wayne Handley and Nathan Dodds will be travelling to Townsville this weekend to play in the Northern Challenge as part of the Mackay district team.
They will be playing against teams from North Queensland, Far North Queensland and the Tablelands.

Last Wednesday morning we had five players who enjoyed a game of triples with Garry Alexander playing double lead.
It gave those bowls that hadn't had an airing for a number of years a good run up the green.
Garry, Arthur Griffith and Philip Brown defeated Garry, Bruce Uhe and Peter Lawton 16 - 15.
In the afternoon, Alen Sanderson, John Lahney, Bruce Uhe and Heather Brown defeated Fiona Gorfime, Stephen Summers, Arthur Griffith and Peter Lawton 17 - 11.
On Sunday, seven players enjoyed social bowls.
John Anderson played double lead. John, Arthur Griffith, Peter Lawton and Heather Brown defeated John, John Lahney, Bruce Uhe and Jimmy Quod 24 -15.
WHITSUNDAY GOLF: On Sunday, a total of 31 players competed in a stableford.
The winners were:
- Men's A-Grade: Peter Fox on a count back from Geoff Harrison
- Men's B-Grade: Mark McDougall and runner-up George Meharry.
- Ladies' A-Grade: Pauline Redpath and runner-up Tiina Randmae.
- Ladies' B-Grade: Joanne Moynihan and runner-up Linda Wardroper.
- Longest drives went to Geoff Harrsion, Stacey Hadlow, Pauline Redpath and Linda Wardroper.
- Pin shots were claimed by Ian Giles with second shot in the hole, Peter Fox, Aaron Watts, Geoff Harrison, Mark McDougall, Wilf Herwig, Jill Chick, Pam Casey and Robyn Witham.
PROSERPINE GOLF: Saturday's two-ball Ambrose in honour of the World's Greatest Shave attracted 84 players and raised just over $2000, with more donations to come in.
The two to lose their locks were club professional Roger Vandenberg and long-time member Tony Goss who shaved both beard and head.
Winners on the day were Tony Spurway and Larry Muller with 60.25 nett from Trevor Paroz and Barry Mortimer on 60.75.
The other placegetters were Sam Marschke and Dan O'Connell with 60.75, Scott Grigg and Vince Collins 62, Troy Smith and Matt Goldman 62.5, Nathan Sothmann and George Steane 63.75, Corey and Adam Stroud 64.25, Tony Sellwood and Jason Whitney 64.25, Patrick Camm and Nick Watson 64.75, and Perri Simpson and Peter Lewis 64.75.
Thursday's monthly medal brought the first hole-in-one for the year, with Simon Della Santa acing the 16.
The medals were won by John Grosskreutz with 68 nett in division one and Peter Lewis on 69 nett in division two.
The two runners-up were Vic Feldman and Jim Grace also on 69 nett.
The placegetters were Allen Roberts, Barry Shuwalow and Travis Clinch with 71, and Michael Cragg, Sean Gower and Vince Collins on 72.
The pins went to Barry Mortimer, Bill Woods, Zac Dowde and Simon Della Santa, while Phil Batty was the only two-shot winner.
Wednesday's ladies' monthly medal was won by Lyn Muller with 72 nett from Mel Patullo on 74.
The placegetters were Tiina Randmae on 75 and Rehab Hull and Elspeth Scotford on 76.
The pin shots went to Mel Patullo on nine, Lyn Muller 13 and Elspeth Scotford on 16.
Next Saturday's competition is a 4BBB stableford.

AIRLIE BEACH DARTS: While there was some good darts played last week, there was also a bit of rustiness showing.
It's expected a few players spent a a bit of extra time on the practice board to right a few wrongs from the previous week.
Three players sit on top of the ladder on 6pt each, with Gene Birse leading the way just ahead of Jamie Woods and Joe Wilson, courtesy of leg difference.
The top four is completed by Seumas Rose on 5pt.
