Rugby League Mackay and District will be giving its 2024 season one final send off on Saturday night with its annual presentation evening.

It’s an opportunity for the entire competition to celebrate the season that was, and in particular celebrate the individual accomplishments of some of the best players across all levels of the competition.

Despite the sheer volume of talent across both the men’s and women’s A-grade competitions, the league has had to whittle it down to just three names across each grade.

Let’s take a look at who made the cut:

Imogen Healy (Brothers)

Brothers’ premiership captain, Healy is a pivotal figure in the halves, setting up plenty of attacking player for her teammates. She may not score all that much herself, but there’s a reason four out of the top six try scorers in the competition come from her team.

Madison Westecott (Brothers)

On to a player who did get her name on the try sheet her fair share of times, Brothers’ fullback Westecott showed just why she’s in the running for this award in the grand final, securing a pair of tries to help her team to victory.

Samantha Cahill (Magpies)

Magpies’ skipper led by example in her side’s front row, a bruising centre who was no stranger to the stat sheet in her own right. Led her team ever so close to premiership glory.

Brad Campbell (Brothers)

A pivotal piece to Brothers’ 2024 campaign, the talented halfback was a crucial piece time and again for their attacking moves forward.

Hamilton Taia (Sarina)

The Crocs’ driving force up front, Taia was praised by his coach for his invaluable role as a leader within the group, combined with his talent and skill set as a lock.

The Crocs’ premiership captain-coach was a critical piece to Sarina’s success in 2024, with the former North Queensland Cowboy showcasing his talent on Sarina’s second row.
