Marmin Barba announced via Instagram he is leaving the "mighty Ipswich Jets' to chase his dream of Olympic gold in the rugby sevens.

"Thanks for everything you have done for me I wouldn't be the player I am today if it wasn't for you," he stated on Instagram.

The 24-year-old footballer started his career in juniors for Norths Mackay and has scored 52 tries across two seasons for the Ipswich Jets.

Marmin is the younger brother of Dally M winner Ben Barba.
