Today’s big day of footy action came down to the wire, with Mercy College winning the Cowboys Challenge grand final and St Brendan’s Yepoon victorious in the Aaron Payne Cup. WATCH THE REPLAYS!

It has been a hard slog for the four remaining sides in the schoolboys rugby league cups, but for two sides it will all be worth it.

The Aaron Payne Cup and Cowboys Challenge will reach their respective climaxes on Wednesday in Mackay, with the grand finals to be held in the sugar city.

REPLAY: MERCY COLLEGE DEFEAT ST BRENDAN’S 22-20 IN COWBOYS CHALLENGE

Kirwan, led by Ragsy Wavik and Dudley Dotoi, will play St Brendan’s in the Aaron Payne Cup final.

St Brendan’s will also be represented in the Cowboys Challenge final, after the school’s two teams defeated Ignatius Park and Emmaus College.

St Brendan’s will play Mercy College Mackay in the Cowboys Challenge final on Wednesday.

Mercy College will play St Brendan’s on its home deck, with the Mackay-based side led by Will Shears.

Mercy entered its semi final match with Iggy Park as underdogs, but left it as premiership favourites after dismantling the strong Townsville team.

St Brendan’s is a strong footballing school, and has shown its class through the tournament.
