Mackay Wanderers are building toward another big season for both their senior men’s and women’s teams in the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) in 2025.
With the club still actively recruiting for the upcoming season, men’s senior coach Rhys Cappello said the time is right for new members to join and be a part of an “exciting journey.”
“Mackay Wanderers strives to provide outstanding experiences for more seasoned players, as well as developing and inspiring young players,” Cappello said.
“With a strong start to pre-season training and good numbers, we’re seeking more players to solidify our men and women’s sides.”
For his part, their senior women’s coach Justin Waldon said they’re expecting strong development across their squad in 2025.
“During pre-season we’re building and solidifying the squad to field competitive FQPL 3 and FQPL U23 Women’s teams,” Waldon said.
“We have quality players and with a the addition of a few key players, I see no reason why we can’t compete with the best of them.”
Jake Ticconi
Jake has been a welcomed addition to the squad and offers experience and guidance as well as his on field attacking prowess as a striker and winger.
Alex ‘Doc’ Boland
Doc has stepped up to Saturday night football after a season or two off. Doc brings a wealth of football knowledge and will be an integral part of guiding the team on the field.
Bryden Murdoch
Murdoch the magician is back for another season after a standout 2024. His goal scoring prowess proved potent in his run, often securing crucial points for the reds.
Bryden, along with all of Wanderers’ young talent, now has the increased support of more experienced players around him to help drive his team to success.
Dylan Ticehurst
Wanderers FC welcomes Dylan to the family as an exciting prospect for the season to come. His versatility, endurance and technical ability are testaments to his nature and training schedule, ensuring he is a premier player for years to come.
With a left foot and the right attitude, the coaching staff are eager to see him develop throughout the year.
Donny Franks
A technically gifted footballer, a creative mind and a determined attitude, Mackay Wanderers welcome Donny with warm arms. His left foot will leave nothing for desire, delivering game changing moments and providing the a grade service for his teammates. A young footballer, that is keen to learn, MWFC are thrilled to welcome Donny to the team
Kim Hill
Returning from a season off due to knee injury, Kim Hill is known for her inspirational performance in goals, pulling off great saves and for having her heart in the game.
In 2023, Hill was named in the Whitsunday Coast Premier League team of the season. She’s determined to come back better and stronger after her surgery.
Kelsey Waldon
A dominator in the midfield, Kelsey shows football prowess beyond her age. She adapts to game conditions, with good vision and footwork on the ball to match it.
She’s known for consistently retaining possession and providing penetrative passes when attacking. In 2024 Kelsey was awarded Player with the Most Potential for the Club’s women’s side.
Amanda Blines
The ever-reliable Blines plays with grit and determination. Last year she brought a calm but dominant presence in the backline, committing to every tackle.
Playing a variety of positions toward the end of last year due to injury, let’s see where this Wanderers 2024 Senior Player of the Year is on the pitch when the season starts.
Abby Naidu
A rock solid defender, Abby brings to the team her mammoth effort in shutting down strong attacks.
Awarded Wanderers Most Improved player in 2024 for the FQPL Women’s team. A young player to watch further develop this season.
Aish Naidu
Returning from injury, Aish is a welcome addition to the women’s side this year. Bringing incredible energy to the middle of the pitch, Aish is an up and coming player to watch.
