The search for Mackay’s next rugby league coach has finished, with Michael Crawley’s replacement officially named.
David Elliott will take the reigns of the Cutters for the 2022 and 2023 season, with Crawley’s two-year tenure set to finish at the end of the season.
The newest signing is currently the Hastings Deering Colts head coach at Townsville, with Elliott leading the Blackhawks to third spot on the ladder with seven wins from 11 games.
Cutters CEO Mitch Cook said he was excited to welcome the talented and experienced coach to the club.
“David will be a great fit for our players and coaching staff, both on and off the field,” he said.
“We are excited to work with David and look forward to taking on 2022 and beyond.”
Elliott was the Blackhawks assistant coach under Kristian Woolf in the Intrust Super Cup before taking on the head coach of the Colts team.
Crawley will continue in his role until the end of the 2021 season.
