Midfielders get to win all the major awards, defenders get the coach’s undying love and affection but it is the forwards that get to kick the goals.
There has been no shortage of snags so far in season 2022.
We have made a list of all the players in AFL Mackay to kick more than 20 goals so far this season:
1. Cody Filewood
The Southport Sharks NEAFL premiership winner leads all comers in the senior men’s competition with 47 goals from only seven games.
The North Mackay Saints spearhead has been among the best players on all but one occasion.
His Saints currently sit undefeated in first with an incredible percentage of 425.10.
2. Jake MacDonald
Jake MacDonald has kicked 44 goals in the Under-17s for the Saints.
He leads all players in the competition, for a ladder topping Saints side.
MacDonald has been listed in the best players seven times.
3. Joel Trease
Joel Trease has kicked 41 goals this year in the Under-14s for the Moranbah Bulldogs.
He also leads the competition for goals and has been named in the best three times.
His Bulldogs’ side also tops the table.
4. Riley King
Riley King has kicked 35 goals for the Bulldogs in the Under-17s so far in 2022.
He currently sits in second for the competition and has been named three times among the best players.
The Under-17s Bulldogs sit in third position on the ladder late in the season.
5. Cameron Hill
Cameron Hill is both the second best goal kicker at the Saints and second best in the AFL Mackay senior men’s competition.
Hill has kicked 35 goals and been in the best six times.
The Saints sit in first.
6. Zac O’Shea
Zac O’Shea has kicked 35 goals this season for the Saints’ reserves to be the top goal kicker in the competition.
He has been listed in the best three times.
The Saints reserves side also tops the ladder.
7. Macey Ronald
Macey Ronald is the top goalkicking woman in AFL Mackay so far in 2022.
She has kicked 32 goals and been in the best twice from her 10 games.
Ronald’s Bakers Creek Tigers sit on top of the ladder once again.
8. Cody Love
Cody Love has kicked 31 goals for the Under-14 Whitsunday Sea Eagles.
Love sits in third in the competition for the third placed Sea Eagles.
He has been mentioned in the best three times.
9. Brodan-Kye Cornwall
Brodan-Kye Cornwall has kicked 30 goals for the Sea Eagles’ Under-17s side to sit third in the competition goalkicking leaderboard.
Cornwall has been listed in the best five times for the second placed Sea Eagles.
10. Mitchell Dent
Mitchell Dent leads the Under-12s goal kickers with 25 goals.
The Mackay Swark has been in the best six times.
His team sits in third position.
11. Jennifer Revell
Jennifer Revell has kicked 25 goals from seven games this year for the Mackay City Hawks.
Revell’s tally puts her in second for the women’s competition.
She has been listed in the best twice for the second placed Hawks.
12. Blake Thompson
Blake Thompson has kicked 24 goals for the Bulldogs Under-17s team this season.
He sits in fourth on the leaderboard.
Thompson has been listed in the best players a staggering nine times for the third placed Bulldogs.
13. Jacob Dewis
Jacob Dewis has kicked 24 goals this season for the Sea Eagles’ Under-17s side.
He sits in fifth in the competition goalkicking for the second placed Sea Eagles.
Dewis has featured in the best eight times.
14. Jordan Daniels
Jordan Daniels has kicked 23 goals also for the Under-17s Sea Eagles.
His tally puts him in sixth in the competition.
Daniels has been in the best six times.
15. Brendan Riddle
Brendan Riddle is the second best ressie goal kicker in 2022 so far.
He has kicked 23 goals for the Saints.
Riddle has been listed in the best once for the ladder leading Saints.
16. Adam Singleton
Adam Singleton is another 20-plus goal kicker for the Under-17 Sea Eagles this season.
He has kicked 21 goals to be seventh in the league.
Singleton has featured four times in the best for the currently second placed Sea Eagles side.
18. Darby Coleman
Darby Coleman has also kicked 21 goals in the Under-17s to be in equal seventh.
He has kicked 21 goals and featured eight times in the best.
19. Andrew Dyer
Andrew Dyer has kicked 21 goals in season 2022 for the Moranbah Bulldogs Under-14s side.
He sits in fourth on the goalkicking leaderboard for the ladder-leading Bulldogs.
Dyer has been listed in the best five times.
20. Jackson Fagan
Jackson Fagan has kicked 20 goals to be fifth in the Under-14s competition.
The Saints junior has been in the best four times for his side that sits in second on the ladder.
21. Rocklyn Miller
The Eastern Swans senior men’s star has kicked 20 goals this season to be third in the competition.
Rocklyn Miller has been listed in the best twice for the fifth placed Eastern Swans.
22. Koben Kulpinski
Koben Kulpinksi has kicked 20 goals for the Saints to be sixth in the Under-14 competition.
He has featured in the best on 10 occasions.
The Saints currently sit second on the ladder.
