EIGHT Mackay women are baring their hearts and souls this weekend to help empower other women in the community.

The Just Saying Project's Soul Sessions: Love letters and writing from the heart is taking place this weekend, hosted by mumpreneur and former journalist Fallon Drewett.

Mrs Drewett, a mother of two, said she feels self-esteem gets lost in the modern world of social media, instant gratification and instant connection.

The event is about the art of letter writing and story-telling from the heart, hoping to help women find their passion and faith in themselves.

"We do events around building women's self-esteem through the art of story-telling,” Mrs Drewett said.

"This event, we've got eight Mackay women who have penned a letter, some of the letters are to themselves, to a moment in time, to a moment of adversity.”

Presenting on the day are Mackay business women Jade McAuley from Rebel Marketing; life and wellness coach Kirsty Head; photographer Sarah Reeves-Saunders and local author Kat Ilich.

"We've got women there who are all diverse in backgrounds and ages, it's really for women to hear other women's stories through writing, to live their best life,”

"Kirsty Head, she's talking about self love and the moment she actually started to love who she was bar any outside influences.”

Titles of the letters include Circumstances are temporary, but love is permanent; To my rebellious muse; Dear Kirsty, I love you but it wasn't always that way; and To my darling Sarah, you will never know your true strength until you've been broken down to nothing and built yourself back up.

Mrs Drewett will also be holding a writing workshop after the letters have been shared.

"It's really about women getting together and connecting on a face-to-face level,” she said.

Tickets are $50, available only online. The event runs from 2-5pm on Sunday at Split Spaces.
