These fans are not mucking around — they want Tones and I to play in Mackay, and they’re going to do whatever it takes to get her here.
On Friday, September 20, Tones and I fan Jenna Kerschbaumer launched a Facebook page titled ‘Bring Tones and I to Mackay’.
Within two weeks, the page had over 600 followers.
Mrs Kerschbaumer said the growth of the page and the massive 217 comments on her call out post to the singer had shocked her.
“I definitely didn’t think we’d get such rapid numbers,” the Mackay woman said.
“Tones and I has actually recognised out page, she’s liked two posts and that was when we were around 300 followers.”
The bid to bring the singer to Mackay isn’t far-fetched - right now, Tones and I is playing in town like Mildura and Mount Gambier in pubs and function venues.
“Tones and I actually put up a post saying if there is enough interest in your town, she will come,” Mrs Kerschbaumer said.
“People have started a page for Bowen, a page of Airlie, and that is not a bad thing because the more pages in our region, the better.”
With phase one of the plan done - launch a Facebook page - Mrs Kerschbaumer is moving onto phase two - contact media.
She’s been on STAR Radio’s breakfast show, and is now in this newspaper.
“We are plugging this wherever we can,” she said.
“I saw Tones and I earlier this year in Townsville when she was touring with P!nk, and she is absolutely incredible. Her whole vibe is so energetic and I find her story really inspiring how she started as a busker that nobody knew.”
Mrs Kerschbaumer is also pulling her other Facebook page - Jim’s Driving School Central Queensland - into the mix in an effort to boost traffic.
“Our business has a similar age demographic to people who listen to Tones and I so I thought why not,” Mrs Kerschbaumer said.
