A Mackay region beautician is leaving her salon behind and looking for a buyer to take up the torch.
Walkerston’s Luxe Beauty, a lash, brow, brow tattooing and teeth whitening salon located on Dutton St, is officially up for grabs with purchase options starting at $30,000 with equipment, staff and stock all thrown into the mix.
Luxe Beauty owner Shakaila Hannah started her career in the mines saving up money to launch a beauty business in a spare room at her house before moving into a shopfront in September, 2021.
“I’m a business girl at heart and have always loved beauty,” Ms Hannah said.
She decided to sell her salon after being offered an opportunity which would take her away from the business.
“It was a dream of mine to own a business and to pursue my love for the beauty industry,” she said.
“Over the years I fell in love with the business development side of it all.”
She hinted this next step of hers would be more focused on business development.
“Watch this space,” she said.
It has four beauty rooms, a staffroom, kitchen and bathroom, beauty beds, $14,000 in “premium beauty equipment” and up to $10,800 worth of stock for all services and brow tattooing.
On top of her stock and equipment, Ms Hannah will hand over the Luxe Beauty Australia social media accounts, with more than 5000 followers, website, branding and an established client base of more than 780 “loyal” customers.
Ms Hannah said one casual beauty technician, one dental assistant and one make-up artist working at Luxe are hoping to stay with the business, but this depends on the new owner.
“There is huge potential to grow the salon to new heights, bringing in new services to offer more comprehensive beauty solutions to Walkerston and the surrounding suburbs,” she said.
“Looking for the new owner to take over in January 2025, however, can start a transition earlier to book the clients from Christmas rush into the new year guaranteeing continuity of business,” Ms Hannah said.
In order to ensure a smooth transition she offered to provide two-weeks of training, introduce the new owner to the Luxe Beauty systems and co-host a farewell/introduction event to “welcome the new owner and clients”.
Ms Hannah highlighted Walkerston as a hub for Pioneer Valley residents and said the surrounding businesses on Dutton St were broadly supportive and woman owned.
“It’s a very empowering street to women I think,” she said.
“I’m all about women in business.”
Ms Hannah stressed the potential for a new owner to take over the business after she did the hard yards to get it up and running.
“If I came across this deal when I first started … I would have jumped on it,” she said.
“I’d love to see someone with ambition make something out of it.”
