IF THERE'S one good reason to dust off your joggers - it's for charity.

The 5km Mackay Marina Run is back on June 2; however, in the lead-up to this event, all are encouraged to take part in the warm-up 5km launch - the Mackay Airport Twilight City Run - on Friday, March 1.

All funds raised from both events will go to the Leukaemia Foundation, to directly assist local individuals undergoing blood-cancer treatment.

Chrissy Evangelou, the Mackay Airport Twilight Run event coordinator, said to date, these popular family friendly events had raised more than $300,000.

"Jog, dance or stroll your way to the finish line - no-one will mind,” she said.

"You definitely don't have to sprint the whole way, or even be an experienced athlete to take part.

"Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome.”

There will be prizes and giveaways at the Twilight event as well as plenty of fun for the whole family.

The Mackay Airport Twilight City Run kicks off at 6pm, at BCC Cinemas' Wood Street car park.

Register from 5pm in person on the day.

Tickets (cash only) are $10 for adults and $5 for students.Mackay Marina Run caps will also be on sale for $10 (usually $15).
