Rubbish truck crash near Mirani causes extensive damage

Both drivers have escaped serious injury after a rubbish truck collided head on with another truck west of Mackay.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said multiple emergency crews were called to the crash along Mackay-Eungella Rd just past the Mirani township at Benholme near Van Eldiks Rd about 11am.
The JJ Richards rubbish truck was significantly damaged in the crash with the front cabin coming to rest on the ground.
Mirani Police Station Acting Senior Constable Brian Angus said the truck drivers were unharmed and “everyone’s fine”.
As of noon, there was a tow truck on scene and Mackay-Eungella Rd was expected to soon be fully open to traffic.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics had attended to one person.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesman said they had three crews attend.
