HUNDREDS of dollars and identification cards were allegedly stolen from a vehicle parked on Celeber Driver in Andergrove last night.
About 7pm, a witness noticed a man of dark complexion suspiciously searching through a Jeep Compass and when the owner of the car was notified, the male fled the scene.
The incident is the latest in more than 1000 property and vehicle break-ins across the Mackay region in the past 12 months.
According to Queensland Police Crime Data, 1021 unlawful entry offences have been reported to police since May 17, 2017 and only 203 of these offences are marked as solved.
While the majority of the break-ins are spread across the entire town, there are some streets that offenders have targeted more than others.
The majority of the break-in hot spots are in the Mackay CBD with Nelson St, River St, Macalister St and Wellington St topping the list for high rates of unlawful entry offences.
Evans Avenue in North Mackay also recorded high rates.
