A NEW sandpit is all the rage among the kids at Nebo State School.
Principal and Years 5 and 6 teacher Anthony Reader said the fun addition was part of the school’s first year of running a remote kindy.
“Previously, we’ve been a prep to Year 6 school,” Mr Reader said.
“We’ve got 13 kindergarten kids this year and as part of that, they obviously need different facilities and a sandpit is one of them.”

Mr Reader said the sandpit had been embraced by all 78 children at the school.
“It’s been really good because we’ve got older kids playing in the sandpit with the younger kids,” he said.
The Years 5 and 6 students volunteered their time to help their kindergarten peers, Mr Reader said.
“We started a program before COVID-19 where they would create a play activity at lunch time and supervise that with the (kindergarteners),” he said.
The school is now looking forward to purchasing a cubby house as well as a playground for the Years 5 and 6 students.
