CHARITIES will not be knocked down by coronavirus, as Isaac Regional Council introduces measures to protect not-for-profits caught in the pandemic.
Rate concessions and zero interest on outstanding debts accrued from Wednesday March 11 until the end of the financial year were part a coronavirus package announced by Mayor Anne Baker on Friday.
Cr Baker said the pandemic would impact everyone in the community and it was important the region was agile and able to adapt to an ever-changing situation.
It would be the first of many measures to protect the sector, Cr Baker said.

The business support package and community support packages would come into effect for the remaineder of the 2019-20 financial year, Cr Baker said.
Community groups impacted by coronavirus could also access council’s Pandemic and Tactical Response Framework.
“This is the framework to how we address and manage our own business continuity, our disaster management structure, identifying the community support and our business community support,” Cr Baker said.
