Power pole falls at Sarina and cuts electricity to almost 30 streets, 600 customers

A power pole has fallen at Sarina, cutting electricity across a large area including at traffic lights at a busy intersection on the Bruce Highway and creating what authorities say is a dangerous situation.

A power pole has fallen at Sarina, cutting electricity across a large area including at traffic lights at a busy intersection on the Bruce Highway and creating what has been labelled a dangerous situation.

Ergon crews are not long on scene as they work to rectify the issue that is also impacting 582 customers.

It is understood there will be a lengthy delay until power can be restored.

The fault occurred about 1.45pm Saturday when a power pole on Williams St partially fell with power lines down in some trees.

It has caused electricity to be cut to almost 40 streets in the area including the Bruce Highway and it is understood multiple drivers have called concerned about the issue.

Traffic control is in place.

The streets impacted include: Anzac St, Arthur St, Atherton St, Beach Rd, Bell St, Biltoft St, Brandon St, Breen St, Broad St, Brooks Rd, Bruce Hwy, Credlin Ct, Dawson St, Grovely Rd, Gurnett St, Heron St, Hoey St, Hook Ct, Johnson St, Langdon St, Lawrie St, Lee St, Leslie St, Millenium Dr, Nicholson St, Nolan St, Ocean Ct, Pacific Ave, Palmer St, Park St, Petersen St, Phillips St, Place Ave, Reef Dr, Sarina Beach Rd, Venton St, Wares Ave, West St and William St.

Ergon crews are assessing the damage and it is understood power will not be restored until at least 8pm Saturday.
