Police have arrested two people after a van fire at the Mackay riverfront
It is understood several members of the public witnessed the fire and reported it to police.

UPDATE 6.45PM: Police have charged a Mackay man after a van fire at the Mackay riverfront.
Emergency services were called to River St near the former Don Daniels restaurant about 3.50pm Thursday.
Police arrested two people a short time later.
A Queensland Police spokesman said a 63-year-old Mackay man had been charged with lighting an unauthorised fire.
He is expected to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court on July 5.
INITIAL 4.20PM: Police have arrested two people after a van went up in flames at the Mackay riverfront.
Emergency services were called to River St near the former Don Daniels restaurant about 3.50pm Thursday.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters arrived to find a vehicle well alight on the side of the road.
A crew extinguished the fire about 10 minutes later.
The spokeswoman said there didn’t appear to be anyone inside the vehicle at the time.
It is understood several members of the public witnessed the fire and told police about two people who started it.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said two people had been arrested and a crime scene was declared.
“Officers will be taking up with those (people),” she said.
