There has been confusion in a court regarding the evidence against a Queensland man accused of knowingly spreading ‘serious disease’ to women he met online.

It is alleged Zak Jordan Winsley had sexual relationships with numerous young women from Airlie Beach to the Sunshine Coast between November 2022 and July 2023.

It is further alleged he did not disclose to them that he had a sexually transmitted infection.

Police will allege he knowingly transmitted a serious disease to women on two occasions.

Mr Winsley is charged with two counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm or transmit serious disease, two counts of distributing intimate images.

The 24-year-old Campwin Beach man faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday via videolink from jail after his arrest in February.

Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Rosemary Varley told the court she was still waiting to receive a brief of evidence from prosecution.

Police prosecutor Leonie Taufa’ao responded they were waiting to hear from Mr Winsley’s lawyer to avoid posting documents to Capricornia Correctional Centre.

The court further heard there was a partial brief available but it could be missing information.

Acting Magistrate Stephen Byrne adjourned the matter to June 5 to allow Ms Varley time to check over material, and remanded Mr Winsley in custody.
