A brand new Dodge Ram ute was one of two cars stolen from a holding yard on Mackay’s outskirts overnight.

The 2022 model ute, that sells for anywhere from $80,000 to $143,000, and a white Chevy Silverado were stolen from New Pioneer Motors between 7.15pm and 8.52pm Monday.

Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton said at least two people broke into the yard on Glenella Richmond Rd.

He said it appeared the fence was cut and the keys to the vehicles removed.

The Silverado had since been recovered in Paget, but the Dodge Ram remained unaccounted for.

It is believed to have been sighted on the Bruce Highway south of Mackay as far as Carmila about 2pm.

It was not fitted with registration plates while at the holding yard as it was a brand new vehicle.
