The next court mention for the case against a mother accused of murdering her own son will be pushed forward more than six months.
Tarrin-Macen Kenneth O’Sullivan, 4, was pulled naked from the pool at a Munbura home in the late afternoon on August 29, 2021.
Almost 2.5 years later his mother Tara Maree Richardson, 46, was charged with murder and interfering with a corpse, as police revealed it was alleged the little boy was dead before he entered the water.
It is alleged Ms Richardson phoned triple-0 claiming her son had drowned.
A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up on behalf of the little boy’s family the day after his death – it raised $1830 to help the family cover expenses.
Police will allege Ms Richardson was the only one home at the time of Tarrin-Macen’s death.
The child was found naked in the pool.
After a protracted and complex investigation, detectives went to Ms Richardson’s South Mackay home just after 6am on December 8 and took her into custody.
Her case was briefly mentioned in Mackay Magistrates Court today where prosecution requested an extension to supply the police brief in regards to the DNA evidence.
The court heard this was not opposed and committal directions in place to vacated.
The case was adjourned to a date in September for mention. Ms Richardson did not appear in court for the mention and she remains remanded in custody.
