A Queensland man claimed he was taking the rap for someone else’s sordid romp that was discovered in a public carpark, just minutes after pleading guilty to six charges.
Stephen James Newman pleaded guilty in Mackay Magistrates Court to committing an indecent act in public, namely defecating and inserting one of two dildos in a Gregory St carpark on Friday, May 17.
When queried about the incident outside the courthouse, Newman denied the charge and asked “do I look like I shoved a dildo up my a***?”
“Well, no, I don’t. I bat for one team and one team only,” he said.
“I shouldn’t be pleading guilty, because I – the sh*t wasn’t mine, mate.
“But I’ve got to put my hand up for it, because going to trial, they reckon the evidence is too damning against me.
“I feel pretty sh*thouse, I’ve got to put my hand up for some other c**t’s f*****g sh*t.”
When appearing before Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan, Newman responded with guilty pleas as she read out his charges.
“On May 17, 2024, you took water from a firefighting system, namely a fire hose reel, without the permission of the service provider who was Fire Systems Queensland and the water was not taken for a firefighting purpose,” she said.
“And on May 17, 2024, at Mackay, you wilfully and without lawful excuse did an indecent act, namely defecated and inserted a dildo into your anus in a place which the public were permitted to have access, a carpark on Gregory St, Mackay.”
Newman gave guilty pleas to having a used pipe, bags of meth and cannabis, and illegally taking water from a fire hose reel meant only for firefighting purposes on that same Friday.
He also pleaded to an earlier charge of stealing groceries from Woolworths at Canelands Shopping Centre on April 19, 2024.
His solicitor Sarah-Jayne Reid said the matter was ready for a long plea, but required some time to assemble relevant authorities.
Newman was listed for sentence on July 5 and his bail enlarged.
