‘Not the worst possible outcome’: Police nab 37-year-old woman almost five times the legal blood alcohol limit.

Police have nabbed a South Mackay woman driving at night almost five times the legal limit.

The 37-year-old driver has been charged with driving under the influence of liquor after police patrolling on Juliet Street intercepted her Hyundai Getz about 1.10am on Thursday morning.

After a roadside breath test, she was taken to Mackay Police Station for further testing.

Police will allege the further breath analysis confirmed the woman’s breath alcohol concentration was as 0.227 per cent – more than four times the legal limit.

She will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on May 10 to have the matter heard.

Senior Constable Steve Smith said any person who knew they would be drinking at a given time should plan in advance to ensure they would not be driving.

“It should be crystal clear to everyone that police are on the roads at all hours testing drivers for alcohol and illegal drugs,” he said.

“Being caught by police is not the worst possible outcome.”
