Slade Point driver charged after alleged driving with .202 reading

Police allege a drink driver who was more than four times the legal limit also fled the scene of a crash on foot, leaving children in her car.

A drink driver who was more than four times the legal limit also allegedly fled the scene of a crash on foot, leaving children in her car.

Police were called to a two-vehicle rear-end collision about 6pm January 9 on Slade Point Rd, at Slade Point.

On arrival officers were told the driver from one of the vehicles, a 41-year-old Slade Point woman, had allegedly left the scene of the crash on foot to an address two blocks away – leaving unattended children in her car.

Police went to the address and found.the woman, who was subjected to a breath test that returned a positive result so she was detained for further analysis.

She was taken to Mackay police station and it is further alleged she returned a 0.202BAC, which is more than four times the legal limit.

Her licence was immediately suspended.

She was also given a notice to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on charges including driving under the influence of liquor, failing to travel a safe distance behind a vehicle and driving a vehicle with a suspended drivers licence.

She will appear in court on February 4.
