A Sarina man is facing serious charges of strangulation and deprivation of liberty over an alleged horror attack against his partner.

It is alleged the younger woman was forced to jump from a window to escape the home before flagging down a passing motor vehicle.

Mackay Detective Acting Inspector Chris Eaton said the vehicle took the woman to a friend’s place for safety where police were called.

Officers then went to another address in Sarina and spoke with a 41 year old man, who was charged.

He is facing strangulation and deprivation of liberty charges, both with the aggravated circumstance as being a domestic violence offence.

Detective Inspector Eaton said police will allege the woman was “detained against her will and at some stage she was able to jump out a window”.

“(She) flagged down a passing vehicle who took her to a friend’s place for safety,” Detective Inspector Eaton said.

“She was taken to hospital where she was treated but released.”

The matter is expected to be heard in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
