A DISGRUNTLED pizza boy punctured his boss’s tyres in a revenge attack the day after he was sacked.

Now the 23 year old has another jail term hanging over his head for two years after Magistrate Damien Dwyer revealed his shocking history for property crime.

“He has shown an absolutely flippant disregard for people’s personal property,” Mr Dwyer said.

Mackay Magistrates Court heard Zakkariah Weber had worked for Ma’s Pizza Kitchen for about five or six months before he was “sacked” over the phone without explanation.

Defence solicitor Peter Clark said Weber believed his boss had learned of his criminal history and fired him rather than talking to him.

So about 12.45pm on May 21 when Weber walked by his former employer’s car parked on Bridge Rd, he went back and pierced all four tyres.

“He didn’t think to ask if he was sacked because of COVID?” Mr Dwyer asked.

“This is just gratuitous violence against a car because of a … perceived slight.

“He doesn’t know why they sacked him at all.”

Weber’s actions were caught by CCTV cameras and a witness who recognised him.

The total cost to replace all four tyres was $763.

The court heard Weber had paid the restitution just before he appeared in court to plead guilty to wilful damage.

“This does seem to be an outburst for which (he) is contrite,” Mr Clark said, pushing for a fine as the penalty.

But Mr Dwyer questioned, if that was the case, why Weber did not pay the restitution “back in May” and bluntly said “I’m looking at jail” before listing the numerous property offences on his criminal history.

Weber had previous entries for multiple stealing offences, as well as a prior wilful damage, possessing stolen goods, burglaries and enter premises.

The court heard Weber was also on parole.

“He just doesn’t care about anyone else’s property,” Mr Dwyer said.

The court heard Weber had fallen into ice addition from his 18th birthday, but was now completely clean, had a new job and was about to start a Certificate III in rural operations.

Mr Clark said his prior offending had been linked to drugs.

“Now he’s committing property (offences) out of … rage, anger management,” Mr Dwyer said.

As a result Weber was jailed for two months wholly suspended for two years.

“The ball’s in your court … the bus goes to prison every Tuesday and Thursday,” Mr Dwyer said.
