Detectives are investigating a potential shooting incident after a man and woman were taken to a Central Queensland hospital suffering from ‘significant’ injuries.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were investigating two grievous bodily harm incidents in Dysart overnight.

A Mackay Hospital and Health spokeswoman confirmed a male, 25 and female, 37, were transported from Dysart Hospital to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment, by helicopter and ambulance.

It is understood the man has suffered a “significant injury” to his leg.

It is understood the incident was reported as a possible shooting, with police receiving a call about 9.30pm Monday.

It is understood the injured man had presented to Dysart hospital with the serious injury and as a result police were called.

“A man and a woman are assisting police with their investigations but there is no further information at this stage,” the QPS spokeswoman said.
