Number of high-range speedsters shocks police
One teen driver was busted twice in one day – one time for travelling more than 50km/h the speed limit.

DRIVERS blatantly flouting speed zones across the region have shocked police.
One motorist was clocked travelling at 131km/h on the Peak Downs Highway.
Moranbah Road Policing Unit Senior Constable Tharyn Daly, who spotted the driver, said where was no excuse for this sort of driving behaviour.
The driver of this particular incident was issued with an infringement notice of $622 and lost six demerit points.
"On these busy roads to the Bowen Basin, drivers should expect the unexpected at all times," Sen-Const. Daly said.

"There could be animals on the road, wide load escorts or damaged road surfaces from recent rain.
"Its simple - drivers need to slow down."
During August, 19 drivers were busted for high range speeding - which is travelling at more than 40km/h the speed limit.
Mackay Crime Prevention Unit's Senior Constable Steve Smith said a 19-year-old Walkerston man, stopped at 11.14am on August 30 on the Bruce Highway at Farleigh, was driving 151km/h in a 100km/h zone.
He was fined $1245, lost eight demerit points and was slapped with a six-month driving ban.
Then at 3.47pm on the same date, the same teen driver was stopped against for travelling at 74km/h in a 60km/h zone on the Bruce Highway at Glenella.
He received a further $266 fine and lost another three points off his licence.
Sen-Const. Smith said a large number of the high-speed incidents were on country roads, not in urban streets.
"This is a very concerning issue that Mackay Police are tackling at the moment," he said.
