Police investigate theft, arson of car in Mackay
Mackay police are calling for information after a Holden station wagon taken for a joyride had its keys stolen from a letter box before being set on fire.

Mackay police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen, taken for a joyride and then set on fire.
Senior Constable Steve Smith said sometime between 12pm and 9pm on November 1, a grey coloured Holden Captiva station wagon was stolen from an address on the Peak Downs Highway in Walkerston.
Senior Constable Smith said the Holden Captiva had been parked on the roadway in front of an address and keys were found in the nearby letterbox and used to enter and steal the car.
Shortly after 9pm the same day, the stolen vehicle was found burnt out on Marwood Sunnyside Road in Sunnyside.
Police are calling for anyone who might have information about this matter to contact police as soon as possible.
Senior Constable Smith said police were also encouraging vehicle owners to store their car keys in secure and out of sight locations.
