Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy as they investigate the death of a woman after family members found her body at a Beaconsfield home.
A crime scene was declared and officers were standing guard outside the Lorne St home overnight Wednesday as multiple police crews including specialist officers were on scene.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said Mackay police were investigating the death of a 37-year-old woman on January 8, 2025.
Multiple police officers converged on the Lorne Court home following reports a woman’s body had been found about 3.20pm by family members.
It is understood there is no obvious cause of death.
Police declared a crime scene by 5.30pm with crews including scene of crime officers still on scene late Wednesday night collecting and bagging items as part of their investigation.
It is standard procedure for a crime scene to be declared while police are investigating a sudden death.
“Investigations into the death are continuing and investigators are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine cause of death,” the QPS spokeswoman said.
