Police are investigating an attempted carjacking after a man reportedly tried to pull a woman her from her vehicle.

A woman has avoided a brazen attempted carjacking after a man reportedly tried to pull her from her vehicle in West Mackay.
Police were called to Nebo Rd near Bridge Rd about 9.30pm Wednesday after it was reported a man jumped in front of a woman’s car stating he wanted a lift.
A police spokeswoman said the man then reportedly approached the window, before jumping on the door and trying to pull the driver out of the vehicle.
He was unsuccessful and it was reported he fled the scene on foot.
Once police arrived officers attempted to track the man down.
It is understood police took up with a man about 15 minutes later and he was assisting with inquiries.
Investigations continue.
