Attempted murder charges against a Whitsunday man accused of firing at police with a compound bow during a four-day siege at his unit complex have been downgraded, a court has heard.
Paul Malcom Henderson, 45, has been indicted on two counts of malicious act with intent on May 21 and May 22, 2022 at Jubilee Pocket.
Police were called to his Erromango Dr home about 2pm on Thursday, May 19 for a welfare check.
It is alleged when officers arrived Mr Henderson barricaded himself inside the unit and armed himself with a compound bow beginning a four-day siege that resulted in an emergency declaration - police blocked the road and enacted a 100m exclusion zone.
Heavily armed Special Emergency Response Team officers were among those sent to the area late Thursday.
It is alleged Mr Henderson shot multiple arrows at police officers, who had to take evasive action.
He was taken into custody about 7.30am May 23 and initially charged with six counts of attempted murder over the alleged offending.
However these charges were downgraded to malicious act with intent when the case was committed to Mackay District Court in November 2022.
He has remained in custody since his arrest.
“We’re closely monitoring that bail status your honour,” Ms Beer said.
The case was adjourned for mention in December and Mr Henderson was remanded in custody.
