A Mackay man has appeared in court following an alleged “shotgun” incident at a caravan park.
Michael James Mansfield, 50, has been charged with going armed so as to cause fear, possessing a shortened weapon in a public place, possessing explosives and possessing utensils, in this case a pipe.
The incident occurred on August 18 at 3.46pm at The Park Mackay, a caravan park at 284 Farrellys Rd near the Bruce Highway in Paget.
The police will allege Mr Mansfield, in possession of a weapon and ammunition, approached a caravan where a person who he was having a disagreement with lived.
Upon the arrival of police, it is further alleged officers talked to the man and located shotgun shells in his pocket and also found a shotgun in his caravan.
The matter came before Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen at Mackay Magistrates Court on August 19.
Prosecutor Michelle Bay was in court alongside defence barrister Danny Yarrow, who requested the matter be adjourned until Monday, August 22.
“We are simply asking this matter be adjourned until Monday,” Mr Yarrow said.
“And it will be for bail application on Monday.”
Magistrate Aberdeen adjourned the matter until Monday.
Mr Mansfield has been remanded in custody.
