A truck has crashed on the Peak Downs Highway in what adds to a chaotic afternoon across the Mackay region.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were called to the Eton Range along the Peak Downs Highway at Hazeldean, west of Mackay, about 3.30pm.

At 4.45pm a QPS spokesman said officers had spoken with the driver who had no serious injuries with paramedics not required to attend.

He said the truck had gone off into the safety ramp but was not believed to be blocking traffic.

The crash followed a two-vehicle collision in Sarina about 4pm.

The QPS spokesman said police officers were called to incident along Keeleys Rd but there were no serious injuries to report.

The crashes follow earlier reports of a potential stabbing, an elderly man trapped under a mower and a vehicle rollover.

Emergency crews were called to a private property along Middle Creek Rd in Sarina, south of Mackay, shortly after noon with reports a man in his 80s was trapped under a mower.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter team was tasked to the incident to provide help to paramedics on the scene, given the incident’s rural location.

The spokeswoman said the man had received minor abrasions to his leg and had declined transport to hospital.

Meanwhile it is understood police officers were called to Centrelink in Mount Pleasant about 2.30pm after a man reported he had stabbed someone with a pocket knife.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers had since taken up with a male and were yet to substantiate whether anyone had been harmed.

The QAS spokeswoman said paramedics were not asked to attend.

Police officers were also earlier called to an emergency situation at Slade Point about 2.40pm.

It is understood a member of the public was trying to stop a person from jumping off the cliff at Lamberts Beach lookout.

The QPS spokeswoman said the situation was now “all in hand”.

Earlier, crews were called to a single-vehicle rollover on Sarina Beach Rd and Vella Rd in Sarina at 1.19pm.

The QAS spokeswoman said paramedics transported a male patient in a stable condition to Mackay Base Hospital.
