A man charged with kidnapping and serious assaults against the same woman has faced court from the Mackay watch-house.

James Charles Brown is alleged to have unlawfully detained a woman in Mackay from June 5 to June 9, when he was arrested on a warrant for previous charges.

When he faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday, he became short when told further charges would be read and began yelling and swearing through the videolink.

After Mr Brown loudly complained police were “already blaming me for all this sort of sh-t”, Magistrate Damien Dwyer warned he didn’t “want that sort of tantrum”.

Mr Brown is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence) on June 8 in Calen and assault occasioning bodily harm while armed (domestic violence) on May 31 in South Mackay.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Linden Pollard told the court Mr Brown had two further new charges; obstruction of a police officer and possessing a homemade taser in public, both in West Mackay on May 25.

Mr Brown’s previous bail was revoked and no new application was made.

His matters were adjourned to July 1.
