A PLANT operator has paid the hefty price for a drunken tempter tantrum more than three years ago.

Gabriel Simon Corrie had been out drinking with his younger brother when the pair had an argument sometime between February 24 and 27 in 2017.

Mackay Magistrates Court heard the younger brother later returned home and saw his work vehicle, which had been parked outside his Mount Pleasant address, had been damaged.

The damage was reported to police and at 12.45pm on July 13 this year Corrie was questioned after police stopped his vehicle.

He admitted he caused the damage, and pleaded guilty to wilful damage.

Defence solicitor Chris Colwill said Corrie could not remember what he and his brother had argued over.

"But he remembers hitting (his) brother's work vehicle … jumping on the bonnet," Mr Colwill said.

"He just got full of grog and got cranky and silly," Magistrate Damien Dwyer said.

The court heard the car was fixed through insurance and Corrie had not paid any of the money back yet.

Mr Dwyer accepted the offending was "out of character" but said Corrie would have to pay a hefty fine and restitution.

He was fined $900 and ordered to pay $3734.50. A conviction was not recorded.
