A Queensland mother accused of trying to stab her daughter to death has been psychologically assessed as lawyers await further documents to prepare for a committal to trial.

The woman, who cannot be named for risk of identifying the alleged victim, was charged with attempt to murder (domestic violence offence), common assault, and serious assault against police after an incident at a Dysart address on July 18, 2022.

Legal Aid Queensland lawyer Geoff Govey told Mackay Magistrates Court an assessment had occurred early last month.

“(The defendant) has been assessed by a forensic psychiatrist on February 2,” Mr Govey said.

“We haven’t received a copy of that report as yet.”

Mr Govey said LAQ lawyer Erin Beer had carriage of the matter, but could advise that the mother had not made any applications for bail.

The court heard she has been in pre-sentence custody since she was arrested after the incident last year.

Police prosecutor Leonie Taufa’ao said prosecution was also waiting on DNA analysis before the woman faced a mention potentially committing her to trial.

“There is one final piece,” Ms Taufa’ao said.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer said he wouldn’t “make directions because it depends on what that report says”.

The matter was adjourned to May 19 for committal mention, with the woman ordered to appear via video-link.
