A Mackay builder has faced accusations of assault, threatening to share illicit images, and maliciously using a restricted computer.
Douglas Blackhurst is the managing director of Vision Construct and faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
According to the business’ website, Vision Construct is a leading residential, renovation and commercial builder specialising in home restumping.
Mr Blackhurst pleaded not guilty to the charges on October 25 when a trial was listed, but deferred until January 24, 2024.
He is charged with common assault, threats to distribute illicit images, and using a restricted computer to cause detriment.
Mr Blackhurst appeared self-represented to apply for a further relisting of his trial due to a witness’ absence.
The court heard the witness was in the United Kingdom to care for an ailing parent.
Magistrate John Aberdeen said the witness may have “ample time” to return to Australia by January.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Linden Pollard said that may depend on how fast the witness’ parent could recover.
Mr Aberdeen said his “original intention was to refuse” the trial relisting as it had already been delayed once, but agreed to the application.
Mr Blackhurst’s trial was relisted for March 6, 2024 at 9am and his bail was enlarged.
