Bloomsbury man charged with assault at Bruce Highway caravan park

A Bloomsbury man will appear in court following an alleged attack at a caravan park between Mackay and Proserpine. Police allege the victim was punched and stomped on.

A Bloomsbury man will appear in court on Monday following an alleged shocking stomp attack at a caravan park north of Mackay.

A 27 year old has been arrested and charged with assault over the alleged incident, which occurred about 9.30am on March 1 at a caravan park off the Bruce Highway at Bloomsbury.

Police will allege he became involved in a verbal argument with another man – it is unknown if the pair were known to each other.

Police will further allege, during the argument the 27 year old punched the man in the head repeatedly and then stomped his head while he was on the ground.

Police were called to the site and spoke to the 27 year old regarding the incident.

He was arrested and charged with assault and will appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on March 6.
