Pioneer River investigation into submerged trawler, oil leak

Fireys responded to reports of a beached boat near River St in Mackay, but have handed it over after it appears the boat is submerged and could be leaking oil. DETAILS.

Just before 10am April 18 two Queensland Fire and Emergency Service vehicles responded to reports that a boat had run ashore on River St.

A QFES spokesman confirmed that they had investigating reports that two fishing trawlers had become submerged, near River St, in the Pioneer River and were possibly leaking oil.

QFES handed the investigation over to Maritime Safety who are reportedly investigating on the river near Sandfly Creek.
