Man electrocuted at Ball Bay Mackay

A 50-year-old man has passed away following an electric shock at a private property north of Mackay. Police and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating.

A man has died after suffering an electric shock on a private property north of Mackay.

Emergency services raced to the Cape Hillsborough Rd addressed about 1pm on May 16.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed this morning the man, 50, passed away at the scene.

“Queensland police will prepare a report for the coroner,” she said.

She said Workplace Health and Safety Queensland had been notified of the incident and the police would assist them in their investigation.

“QPS is assisting Workplace Health and safety with their investigation.

The Queensland Ambulance Services dispatched multiple crews to the scene.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the shock occurred while the man was digging a trench at the property.
