Mackay Whitsunday crashes: Multiple roads blocked in three days of wreckage
A mum involved in a head-on crash in the Pioneer Valley on Friday night has hit out at the situation. Hers was one of six crashes in 48 hours across the Mackay Whitsunday region.

A woman has expressed her anger after she and her daughter were involved in a head-on collision at the base of Eungella range.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Mackay-Eungella Road at Netherdale about 8.40pm on Friday night
Marissa Sherrington, writing on Facebook, said she and her 11-year-old daughter suffered injuries in the incident.
“I have a slight crack in my sternum really, bruised knee and big bruises,” she wrote.
“Lara has lots of bruising kept her in collar and immobile for hours did CT scan she is really really shaken.”
Officers assessed three patients at the scene. All were taken to Mackay Base Hospital, including a male with a knee injury.
Mrs Sherrington and her daughter were inside a four-door Lancer sedan while a four-wheel-drive Landcruiser towing a trailer was on its left hand side blocking both lanes.
It is understood the Landcruiser leaked oil but not fuel.
Ms Sherrington said she was driving the sedan with her daughter and was hit “head on”.
Police are investigating the incident. No charges have yet been laid.
It comes as officers also rushed to a rollover at Mount Whitsunday Road, just behind Hermitage Drive, in Airlie Beach about 6.15pm on Friday night.
The four people inside the vehicle were able to get out themselves after suffering only minor injuries.
Earlier in the day, two people died after a serious crash on the Bruce Highway near Gumlu.
The Bruce Highway was closed four hours after emergency service crews were called to the scene about 11.30am on Friday.
Police say initial investigations indicate a crash occurred between a truck and a vehicle, subsequently involving a third vehicle, at Wunjunga.
The driver of the vehicle, a 67-year-old Hervey Bay man, died from his injuries at the scene.
The sole passenger in the vehicle, a 62-year-old Hervey Bay woman, was flown in a critical condition to Townsville University Hospital, where she subsequently died as a result of her injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 61-year-old Deeragun woman, was not physically injured.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 36-year-old Sarina man was not physically injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
On August 13, the Peak Downs Highway was shut down in both directions after a truck rolled over at the intersection of the Peak Downs Highway and Peak Downs Mine Rd.
Emergency crews responded to the rollover just before noon and it is understood just one vehicle and patient was involved.
An ambulance crew assessed a male patient in his 50s, believed to have suffered a laceration above his eye and bruising around the rib area.
The Peak Downs could still be accessed from Dysart, but was closed off from Moranbah to Clermont.
It is understood the highway has now reopened.
Just a couple of hours later at 2.45pm, paramedics took a stable patient to Dysart Hospital after a motorcycle crash on Golden Mile Road.
On Sunday morning, paramedics had to take a stable patient to Bowen Hospital after a motorcycle crash at Don River at Bowen at 8.57am.
